Starting July 1, 2023 - Blue Box Transition for residential recycling collection

The Blue Box transition for residences (including homes and multi-residential buildings) and other eligible sources (schools, retirement homes and long term care homes) will occur July 1st, 2023.

The main things are;

  • Recycling inquiries for residential and eligible sources (schools, retirement homes and long term care homes) – inquiries/issues should be directed to GFL at 1-888-941-3345, ext. 1
    • Inquiries for Industrial, Commercial & Institutional (IC&I) recycling, in addition to garbage, organics, yard waste, bulky items etc. for all residences and IC&I on the Dufferin Waste program can still go to either the County at 519-941-2816, x2620 or dufferinwaste@dufferincounty.ca  or to GFL at 1-888-941-3345, ext. 1
  • Blue Boxes for residents will no longer be distributed by the local municipal offices or the County. Residents can call GFL directly at 1-888-941-3345, ext. 1 to be placed on their delivery list. They will take broken blue boxes, and deliver new blue boxes. For new residents, they will continue to receive two blue boxes.
  • Green Bins and kitchen containers will continue to be available from the local municipal offices, and at the County’s Edelbrock Centre located at 30 Centre St., Orangeville.
  • Residents can still find recycling information in the Dufferin Waste Services Guide and in the Dufferin Waste App. There is no change to the items that can be recycled, or the collection schedule.
    • Circular Materials (who is taking over responsibility for the residential recycling program) will have a dedicated website for Dufferin County.
