Starting January 1, 2026 - Recycling Changes in Dufferin County
The residential recycling program is now managed by Circular Materials. Please direct all residential recycling inquiries to their contractor GFL at 1-877-426-4351 or email dufferin@gflenv.com.
Blue boxes and blue bags will be phased out starting spring 2026. Blue carts will be distributed to residents for collection in late winter/early spring. Changes will also be made to the acceptable items list. A provincial-wide and expanded standard list of acceptable items for recycling will be released. Households can start using the new carts as of April 1, 2026.
Broken blue boxes
- GFL has confirmed that they will accept broken blue boxes at their transfer station at no charge
- The GFL Transfer Station is located at 473051 Dufferin Road 11, Amaranth
- Households are encouraged to keep their useable blue boxes for other uses around their home

Curbside Battery Collection
Need to get rid of old household batteries? Recycle them responsibly by participating in the Curbside Battery Collection happening from March 9-12, 2026.
Look for your orange battery bag in the mail
Fill up your bag with your old single-use and rechargeable batteries
Place the bag on top of your Green Bin or beside your garbage at the curb
Ensure your waste & battery bag are at the curb by 7am on your regular collection day that week.
