Credit Valley Conservation - Flood Outlook Statement Feb 17, 2026

Date: February 17, 2026 Time: 10:35 AM
Statement Details
Credit Valley Conservation advises that a strong low-pressure system is expected to enter the Credit River watershed today overnight and will track across watershed on Wednesday (February 18th). The system is forecast to bring 10 mm to 15 mm of rain and freezing rain and 5 cm to 10 cm of snow.
Air temperatures are expected to remain above 0°C today, reaching 5°C in Mississauga. Warmer conditions, combined with the significant snowpack of 45 to 90+ mm of snow-water equivalent across the watershed will cause snow to melt. Forecasted rain and snowmelt could result in runoff, elevating water levels and flows in rivers and creeks and weakening river ice.
While neither significant flooding nor river ice breakup of the Credit River and its tributaries is expected, there is a possibility of localized flooding in flood-prone and low-lying areas.
Urban streams and ice-covered rivers may be dangerous, especially in the vicinity of culverts, bridges, and dams. People are warned to stay away from all watercourses and to keep children and pets away.
CVC will continue to closely monitor weather and water levels in the watershed. The Watershed Conditions Statement for Flood Outlook will be in effect through Friday February 20th, or until further notice.
