The next Municipal Election will be held on Monday October 24, 2022.
The Township of Amaranth will be proceeding with a hybrid method for voting in the 2022 Election, offering voting through telephone, internet and paper options.
Vote anywhere, anytime. Electors will be able to vote remotely using their own devices in the comfort of their home. Advantages include less travel, removing time constraints, and improved accessibility for persons with disabilities or people who are ill or away from home.
The voting period for electors in the Township of Amaranth will be:
Telephone and Internet Voting:
Friday October 14, 2022 starting at 10:00am to Monday October 24, 2022 at 8:00pm
Paper Ballot Voting:
Advanced Paper Voting - Saturday October 15, 2022 from 12:00pm to 4:00pm
Election Day - Monday October 24, 2022 from 10:00am to 8:00pm

If you are an Ontario resident over the age of 18, you should confirm that you're on the voters' list. Verify that your information is correct and if necessary, change your school support for electoral purposes or add names to your property address.

Candidates who intend to run in the 2022 Municipal Election must file all of the necessary documentation along with the required filing fee during the nomination period. Filing must be done in person or by an agent (not by mail, email or fax) with the Clerk at The Township of Amaranth Municipal Office at 374028 6th Line, Amaranth, ON, L9W 0M6.
Nomination period runs from May 2, 2022 to August 18, 2022 (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and on Nomination Day Friday August 19, 2022 (9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m)
To run for office, you must be an eligible elector in the Township of Amaranth. This means that you must be:

Mayor, one to be elected;
Deputy-Mayor, one to be elected;
Councillors, three to be elected.

The Township of Amaranth has made great efforts in promoting a barrier free community. In an effort to ensure that the 2022 Municipal Election is consistent with the core principles of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, a plan must be developed in advance of the election in order to identify measures to be taken and reported to Council following the election.
