Dufferin’s Community Safety & Well-Being Plan

The Comprehensive Police Services Act (2019) requires municipal governments to adopt Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) plans. The legislation states every municipal council is required to develop and adopt these plans by working in partnership with a multi-sectoral advisory committee. In June 2021, County Council and all 8 lower tier municipalities adopted Dufferin's Community Safety & Well-Being Plan.

The Community Safety and Well-Being Planning Framework helped to guide our municipality and local partners develop a local plan. Four priority areas have been developed to assist this framework:

Social development
Prevention
Risk intervention, and
Incident response

Dufferin County Canadian Black Association (DCCBA)

The Dufferin County Canadian Black Association (DCCBA) is committed to being a true community partner working with other established agencies to bring value to the Dufferin County community.

The impetus for the creation of the Association followed many discussions with community members and stakeholders about the growing Black population in Dufferin County (Blacks including those of African decedent and individuals from the Caribbean and Latin diaspora) and the need to provide a voice, advocacy, a safe space along with educational programs, support services, community outreach and scholarship opportunities benefiting families and businesses within Dufferin County.

The Dufferin County Canadian Black Association is inclusive and welcoming to all who wish to volunteer, provide feedback, attend events and sign up for future programs.

The Township of Amaranth is a proud supporter of the Dufferin County Canadian Black Association and the Township has recently created a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Community Advisory Committee.

For more information on the DCCBA please see:

Dufferin Age-Friendly Community Project

In July 2019 the County of Dufferin began working on an Age-Friendly Community Project to enhance the quality of life for older adults residing in Dufferin County. As part of this program, the County gathered input from older adults by way of an online survey. The information gathered through this survey will help with the Older Adults Advisory Committee assess the services and supports currently available and identify priorities as they embark on making Dufferin County an age-friendly community.

Also, for additional information on the Older Adults Advisory Committee please visit the County’s website at:
