NORTH AMARANTH PARK COMMITTEE VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION AND QUALIFICATIONS

 Purpose of the Committee:  At the request of Council, Deputy Mayor Chris Gerrits and Councillor Steve Niedzwiecki will be leading a team of volunteers to comprise The North Amaranth Park Committee.  The North Amaranth Park Committee will make suggestions to Amaranth Council on issues related to the current and future needs of parks and recreation in the Township.

 The North Amaranth Park Committee will:

  • Review the parks and recreation programs and facilities in the Township and make suggestions on improvement or enhancements. Specific attention will be paid to current and future improvements or enhancements within the developments known as Sylvanwood Estates, Devonleigh Subdivision, Amaranth Country Estates and the future proposed Primrose Development ;
  • Provide and gather public input on the Township parks and recreation facilities and programs;
  • Make suggestions to the Amaranth Council on current and future needs;
  • Look for and advise on opportunities to work with adjacent municipalities on mutually beneficial recreation programs and projects;
  • Promote maximum utilization of parks, recreation facilities and programs;
  • Enhance the quality of the leisure life of all township residents through parks and recreation programs and services;
  • Advise Amaranth Council on Township Parks and Recreation issues. The Committee will have a maximum of eight voting members, all of whom are appointed by the Amaranth Council.

 The terms of the members will be from May 2021 through November 2022.  The Committee will meet on an as required basis.

 Eligibility for appointment:  Appointees to the Committee must be Amaranth Township residents.  Park and Recreation Committee applicants are expected to have an interest in developing and supporting township parks and recreational facilities and working with other members of the Committee, the general public, and Amaranth Council to plan for future improvements in Township parks and recreational facilities.  Formal education in the field is not necessary and is open to any resident of the Township. This is an unpaid volunteer position.

 Committee Composition:  The Township is seeking applicants for the following volunteers:

-          4-6 volunteers for the Committee over the age of 18.

-          1-4 youth volunteers for the Committee under the age of 18.(High School volunteer hours will be provided if required)

Selection Process:  All applicants for appointment to the Committee must submit an email to nmartin@amaranth.ca by June 11th, 2021 confirming that you are a resident of Amaranth, why you would like to volunteer and if you are a youth volunteer.

 Applications with be reviewed and qualified candidates will be selected and appointed by Amaranth Council on June 16th, 2021.
